Have you heard about the Pharmacy First Scheme?
Launched by NHS England on 31 January 2024, the scheme provides quick and easy care while reducing pressure on GP services. Patients can now receive treatment for seven common conditions directly from their local pharmacy—no GP referral or prescription needed.
Conditions covered include:
- Sinusitis
- Sore throat
- Earache
- Infected insect bites
- Impetigo
- Shingles
- Uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs) in women
When necessary, the pharmacist will dispense antibiotics. Simply mention at your local pharmacy that you would like to be seen under the Pharmacy First Scheme.
